Think Trick-or-Treating, but for winter holidays. Participants get a treat bag and a map from the Clubhouse and then walk around the neighborhood to see residents' decorations and collect cookies and other treats. Residents can sign up in advance to have their home on the map as a Treat Stop, a Decoration Stop, or both
Come to the fire pits at the Pleasant Green Clubhouse at 5pm to start the walk. Guidance and warm drinks will be provided.
In addition to the Stops along the Walk, there will be warm beverages and holiday music around the fire pits at the Clubhouse. Once you finish the Walk, there will be an ornament-decorating station inside the Clubhouse, a holiday movie playing for the kids, and even a chance to write a letter to Santa. Stay a while with neighbors new and old!
Homemade baked goods are encouraged but not required. A nice store-bought treat is OK!
Treats should be individually wrapped in paper snack bags, plastic wrap, small Ziploc-style bags, or similar.
Similar to Halloween, it's unknown how many folks might participate. Since kids and adults do the walk, it may be good to make a few dozen smaller cookies, brownie bites, etc. rather than full-size baked goods.
While a big display is always welcome, any level of decor is welcome as a Decoration Stop.
The Cookie Walk is open to residents and their friends and families. We schedule the Cookie Walk on the same day as the Crozet Parade to give you a full day of holiday events, so invite the grandparents, grandkids, best friends, etc.! All ages are welcome, as long as you like cookies or holiday cheer!
While you don't have to do the entire walk, the neighbors who signed up as Stops did put in a lot of effort to make the event a fun and delicious stroll. We encourage everyone to try and hit as many Stops as possible by creating a Map that leads you to each in the most efficient route possible.
Similar to Halloween, you have to decide who stays home and who goes out. Some residents choose to leave their Treats out on a table on their porch so they can do the walk.
Cookie Walkers should be respectful and only take one Treat from each Stop.
No tickets are needed to do the Walk.
The Pleasant Green Social Committee hosts the event. The PGSC is funded by the HOA with a small annual budget.
